What AEO is

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is the outbound side of AI search visibility. While GEO scores your pages, AEO tracks whether your brand actually gets cited inside ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews.

Setting up Watched Prompts

  1. Site Intelligence → site card → AEO Tracker
  2. In the left panel, click + Add Watched Prompt
  3. Type the question your customers would ask AI engines (e.g., *"best AI writing tool for SEO in 2026"*)
  4. Pick the Intent (brand / comparison / question / service)
  5. Pick the Cadence (daily / weekly / on-demand)
  6. Click Add

What ContentRyte polls

Every active prompt is run against all 5 engines on the cadence you picked. Each run produces:

  • A response log (full text of the AI's answer)
  • Mention records — every brand mentioned, with position, sentiment, and confidence score

Reading the dashboard

The AEO Tracker page shows:

  • KPI cards — mentions in last 30 days, unique brands cited, share of voice, watched prompt count
  • Mentions by Engine chart — stacked bars showing daily mention counts per engine
  • Recent Mentions table — newest 20 mentions with brand, prompt, snippet, position, sentiment

Share of Voice

Share of Voice = (your brand mentions) / (total mentions) over the last 30 days. Above 30% is dominant; 10–30% is competitive; below 10% means you're losing ground.

Cost considerations

Each polling event consumes a small AI credit. Daily cadence on 10 prompts ≈ 1,500 polls/month across 5 engines. Most plans bundle enough credits; heavy users should consider the AI Rankings Visibility Optimizer add-on.
